Len Berwick bought and sold any type of office equipment during the depression. What a time to start a business. At that time, he was able to make a name for himself selling the Thomas Edison ‘Ediphone Dictating Equipment’. This three piece of set machines used wax cylinders as the recording media which eventually gave way to Magnetic disks, then tape and now solid state circuits.

The Copystat photocopier of the 40s was just a light box with a timer that exposed special photographic paper then dipped in chemicals to keep the image permanent. Pages had to be drip dried.

1954, Errol Berwick, son to Berwick founder Len Berwick, began working in the family business servicing machines like the Copystat photocopier. Although retired, Errol still has daily exposure in the business.
Later in the 50s, the first xerographic style copiers were introduced in modest quantities.

Daughter of Len Berwick joined the family business in 1960 and serviced the new style of ‘wet copier’. This was much better because for the first time copiers could print onto Plain Paper. However the image was damp from the liquid toner. This style survived through to the late 1970s.

Zoom technology and spot colour toners were introduced in the copier design giving greater flexability to office users.

LF Berwick & Co PTYLTD becomes one of the first office equipment companies in Australia to be accredited with Quality Accreditation. 1998 saw Berwicks merge with another Dealer to become the largest Minolta copier dealer in Australia. The merge meant that Berwicks was a part of the vanguard that adopted the emerging digital technology. Customers can now copy, fax and scan to computers and email addresses from the one unit

Minolta merged with Konica in 2003 and Berwicks was immediately appointed the only Brisbane Dealer for the new Konica Minolta branded devices. This is resulting in even better quality products.
